For the first time in over a year, a majority of students returned to in-person learning for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. SA YES assisted in kicking off the new academic term with two new “Little Locker” unveilings in San Antonio on International Literacy Day. These took place at  Roy Cisneros Leadership School for Boys as well as Lyndon B. Johnson Elementary School. The day was filled with gratitude from each school district and the students who were eager to select their favorite book.

If you are interested in visiting one of our “Little Locker” locations, we’ve added an interactive map to find the one nearest you!  Our “Little Lockers” will be restocked throughout the year with a variety of books for all ages and seasonal art and craft activities to enjoy.

To close out the month, SA YES proudly presented a $8,000 check to Joey Tomlinson Elementary school in Northside ISD. The donation  is part of the YES Grant program that focuses on STEM, innovation, and the development of programs related to science and math. Joey Tomlinson Elementary will be using the funds donated to expand and sustain their new STEM lab.

As we build our elementary STEM Lab from the ground up, this grant provides highly engaging resources in an environment centered around creative thinking and real world problem solving. Funds at these beginning stages of our STEM program will make an immediate impact that would take us months or even years to accomplish on our own. Thank you, SA YES for your commitment to the education of our youth!  I hope that others see this opportunity and take the time to seek a grant for their programs.”- Mrs. Wendy Tiemann, Principal of Joey Tomlinson Elementary (Northside ISD)

We are happy to be a part of their efforts towards enhancing their students’ learning experience and look forward to helping other schools in our community do the same through upcoming grant distributions.
