Policies and Procedures:

 

T he San Antonio Youth Education Scholarships Foundation was established to provide educational scholarships, materials and technology to financially challenged individuals and tax-exempt community organizations in San Antonio and Designed counties of South Texas.

Our program’s purpose is to address South Texas economic development and future workforce needs by providing educational components that will contribute to a higher productivity and quality of life.

In addition to educational materials and technology grants, scholarships are made available to individuals who wish to continue their studies at an accredited college, university or educational program in San Antonio and designated counties of South Texas. The SA YES Foundation is committed to helping people in our community become more employable and productive through education.

Eligibility Standards for Graduating High School Students

The eligibility standards for graduating high school students wishing SA YES Foundation scholarship consideration are:

  • A 90% attendance rate
  • High school transcript
  • Students must be planning to attend an approved and/or accredited college, university or educational program in San Antonio and South Texas
  • Narrative by applicant stating reasons for scholarship consideration (200-400 words)
  • Student must provide two (2) letters of recommendation from persons outside of immediate family… Of particular interest will be achievement and behavior profiles
  • Federal tax return for previous year showing annual household income not greater than $40,000
  • Current pay stub(s) and W-2 for all wage earners on tax return
  • Applicant must show proof of residency in San Antonio or designated counties in South Texas (i.e copy of utility bill)
  • Scholarship application form must be completed and submitted by deadline
  • SA YES Foundation Scholarship Committee shall have complete discretion

Eligibility Standards for Other Individuals

The eligibility standards for other individuals wishing SA YES Foundation scholarship consideration are:

  • Narrative (200 – 400 words) stating reasons for scholarship consideration
  • High School and/or college transcript(s)
  • Federal tax return for previous year showing annual household income not greater than $40,000
  • Current pay stub(s) and W-2 for all wage earners on tax return
  • Proof of residency in San Antonio or designated counties in South Texas
  • Applicant must be planning to attend an approved and/or accredited educational program in San Antonio or designated counties in South Texas
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from persons outside of immediate family
  • Scholarship application form must be completed and submitted by deadline
  • The SA YES Scholarship Committee shall have complete discretion

The SA YES Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, veteran status or any other criterion made unlawful under applicable state or federal law. Additionally, the employment status of any prospective recipient will not be considered relevant criteria in the selection process. However, individuals may not be considered if there is a family member or relative actively serving on the SA YES Foundation Scholarship Committee.

The approximate number of eligible individuals and the amount of scholarships awards will be determined annually through application process and will also be based on revenues generated through donation and acceptable fund-raising practices.

All funds awarded will be sent by registered mail directly to the educational institution of the scholarship recipient. Funds not used for the purposes intended will be forfeited and refunded directly to The SA YES Foundation.

The SA YES Foundation Scholarships may be considered renewable with a cumulative 2.5 GPA, current transcript showing each college/program semester completed, 200-400 word narrative explaining what the SA YES Scholarship has meant to you and how it has impacted your education, completed application form.
